Mikey Shock (she/her) is a transgender woman devoted to serving her community as an activist and leader. She is pursuing her undergrad at The University of Arizona with a double major in Psychology and Gender & Women's Studies with a Trans emphasis and minoring in Spanish. Mikey has participated in many groups, communities, and internships at the University of Arizona, including UA CAPS Peer Counselor, Pride Alliance, and Survivor Advocacy. She also serves as the LGBTQ+ embedded CAPS Peer Counselor. Mikey has training in Psychological First Aid, suicidality, crisis intervention, and certificates in clinical research training.

In September 2022, Mikey was diagnosed with the blood cancer Hodgkins Lymphoma, Stage II. This cancer is familiar to her as her mother had it 19 years prior. Despite this cancer not being genetic, every aspect of her case was almost exact to her mom's. After undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, she has become highly interested in oncology. The most significant part of psychological oncology that she is interested in is the effects of chemo on the brain and its memory, as this has been her biggest struggle. She looks forward to learning as much as she can and developing experience and skills in psychological research through an important topic.

After receiving her bachelor's, Mikey plans to attend graduate school to earn her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, focusing on gender-affirming care. She plans to use her degrees to continue her activism and to begin her own clinical practice where she can assist and support trans individuals with their unique transition journeys. Her goals also include lobbying and advocating for favorable trans policy and legislation nationwide, creating a network of mental health professionals specializing in gender-affirming care, and establishing multiple centers of transgender health.
